New Reading Nook: Halloween Style!

I’ve been brainstorming how I could change up this spot in Ellie’s room for months. I love how it looks but it just wasn’t functional for us and you know me, I get bored and crave change 😉

I have seen several of these reading nooks floating around Instagram and Pinterest and loved the idea of them! We love books at our house and I loved the idea around swapping them out and decorating around the season or theme! I’ve seriously lost sleep thinking about all the seasons and themes and decor around them that I can do.. Yes, I’m crazy!

The benefit of doing this reading spot is two-fold:

1. Takes up less space in her closet storing ALL of our books

2. We have A LOT of books and if you know toddlers, they tend to pick their favorites and want to read the same ones every time. I’m hoping by rotating books like this, it will keep things new and fresh and so we get to read lots of stories instead of the same 3 😉

Book Ledges:

I got lucky and my dad made the book ledges for us but you can find some similar HERE for a decent price and can stain or paint them to fit your needs! Mine are 48 inches wide and my dad made them out of raw pine and I just spray painted them white!

Floor Comfort:

There are a lot of options out there and I considered them all. I’m not going to go into why I didn’t choose these because that would just get too long but just know…you could use floor cushions, poufs, chairs, benches, dog beds, the Nugget, etc… but I just wanted something low budget that we could all sit together on and so the crib mattress (FREE from my sister) was a winner! I just covered it in a chenille coverlet we had and tucked it underneath to tightly fit. I’m going to see how this works for now but may order these little bed suspenders for it if it starts giving me issues not staying on!
