Grain Sack Vanity Bench

Grainsack-Bench

I occasionally check the local Facebook yard sale pages but rarely purchase anything. But when I saw this cute little vanity bench posted, I just fell in love with the size and shape of it. I actually really liked the fabric on it, it was just so bright and unique, but it didn’t work with anything in my house.

While I was debating to recover it, my husband’s aunt came to visit and saw it sitting in the garage. We started talking about it and she mentioned how much she loved the current fabric. When I decided to recover it, I tried to salvage as much of the fabric as possible and my grandmother helped me make it into a pillow for his Aunt for Christmas. It was such a great gift for her that I knew she would appreciate that we had made it.

Ok, but back to the bench. I originally had planned to dry brush the wood and recover with dropcloth so it would work with every room in our house. But when my mom gave me a coffee grain sack for Christmas, it got me thinking, I have seen people use them to recover upholstery and why not do something a little different from my “go to”.

So i did! I love the character that the grain sack words add the wood sides are wearing which normally wouldn’t be ideal but I ended up liking it with the burlap, which meant less work for me…WINNING!

So for now, the bench is sitting in our dining room when you walk in the front door and is a great place to sit your purse, shoes, etc.
