Simple DIY Scripture Art

I was working on a gallery wall for the master bedroom that I am sharing on my blog tomorrow and needed one more thing to use in an empty space. I really had no idea what I wanted to use but I knew that something framed horizontally would work best for the space.

I went to Hobby Lobby hoping I would find inspiration or something in their wall art section that was perfect. I ended up coming home with a frame and a piece of burlap scrapbook paper and still no clear idea on where I was going with this.

I figured if all else fails I could frame a picture to use but I wanted something else. I started talking with my husband about scriptures about love and marriage that we would like displayed in the house when we came across 1 Corinthians 13:13.

1 Corinthians 13:13  (NIV) And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

I figured I would use my graphic design skills and design something cute with that verse but I happened to Google the verse and found this awesome image that was created by Meg and knew it would be perfect!

1Corin13.13

I sized it to fit an 8×10 piece of paper and printed it onto the burlap scrapbook paper I had picked up and cut it to 8×10. This art cost me $.40 (cost of scrapbook paper)! That’s cheaper than a picture would have been.

This scripture art turned out better than I could have imagined! If you read all of 1 Corinthians 13 it reminds us that love never fails and that while other things may be lost we will always have our faith, hope and love and that love is the most important.  I love that daily reminder and I love simple, inexpensive DIY wall art!
