The Dog Corner of the Hamby Home
You probably have realized by now that I’m obsessed with my two dogs. They are my children and they are spoiled rotten and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Ever since Christmas the dog toy bin and dog bed have been in the corner of our living room. We had two random wall art pieces over there that I had used in my pre-marriage apartment that we hung there because the wall needed something but they weren’t anything we just loved. A couple weeks ago I got the idea to make that corner of the living room the dog corner. It already had the dog’s toys and bed so all it needed was dog specific wall art to go along with it. Once the idea came to mind I ran with it. Once I get an idea in my head I will obsess about it until I get it done so I had been sketching it out trying to figure out what all I wanted in the collage.
I already had the dog paw print art to use in the collage.
I made a pallet sign with a cute dog quote.
I created their silhouettes using photoshop. I know that most silhouettes you see are painted but photoshop was so much easier for me so I cheated! Nobody would ever really know the difference once it was in the frame!
I attempted my first set of DIY photo canvases. I love photo canvases but they can get expensive to print professionally and I knew I needed at least three so I got the canvases on sale at Michaels 50% off with a an additional 25% off coupon and modge podges photos onto them. They aren’t perfect if you look up close but the three of them cost me about $10 or less vs $60 min it would have cost me to get them printed through a photo site.
Because I had sketched out the collage on paper, I knew what size canvases I needed and had a pretty good idea of how I would hang it all. I arranged it all on the floor when all my projects were complete to make sure I was happy with the collage before I hung all of it.
I love the way it turned out! It just makes me smile looking at those sweet faces! This is what happens with you don’t have children 🙂
