Mr. and Mrs. Party Decor
If you haven’t learned this from my blog already, I am a PLANNER and I am FRUGAL. I love planning parties! Parties usually include craftiness and creativeness to keep the cost down. One of my best friends got married this past fall and me and two other girls threw them a couples shower, aka “Mr. & Mrs. Party”. The great thing about three people hosting it was that we all we brought ideas to the table and all provided stuff we already owned to keep the cost down. This shower decor was very resourceful and you never would have guessed it cost so little. We used a black, white and silver theme and asked all the guests to wear white. I think this is one of my favorite showers yet! It was so fun and laid back and super cute and inexpensive!
These are just some easy, frugal ideas for decorating for any party/shower:
Have the Party outside in someone’s backyard or at a park instead of paying for a venue. We had lawn games for the guys and use lights we already had for a fun outdoor patio party.
Chalkboards are cheap! You can make them out of frames or even write on black poster and put inside any frames you already own. One of the hostesses already had several chalkboards from previous parties so she made awesome signs for the front porch, fence, games and menu. Another bonus – they’re reusable! She also made an awesome Mr & Mrs Banner to go over the food table which is adorable and so simple and inexpensive to do!
Here is the spread, we had lasagna, salad, garlic bread and cheesecake. It was inexpensive and filling! We had Mr. and Mrs. Signature Drinks and I designed a chalkboard printable for the table and used a frame that I have in our bedroom.
We collected wine bottles from friends and from a local wine bar (FREE) and spray painted them silver. We borrowed the white swag from a friend and used candles that were used in mine and my sisters wedding. The “chalkboard queen” even made little chalkboard looking signs out of black cardstock to go with each centerpiece of bottles. We cut some flowers out of a blooming tree nearby and TA-DA! These centerpieces only cost us the spray paint!
The great thing about keeping the shower cost down is that you can splurge more on the gift for the couple and alcohol for the party if that’s something your guests would enjoy.
