Happy Early Birthday Granny
It’s been a year and half since my grandma passed away unexpectedly and I still think of her often. I remember talking to her several times before she passed away about our ornament favors and all the little things I was doing for the wedding. She was always coming up with little ideas and ways to make things easier. I remember telling her all about pinterest and she even signed up for an account. I knew if anyone would love pinterest, it’d be Granny. She loved cooking and crafting and pinterest has a lot of both! I believe I got my love for crafts from Granny. She was always painting, making jewelry or some kind of craft/diy project. You may remember my brooch bouquet and how it held a little beaded angel bookmark she had made and given me. I still have jewelry she had made as well. She was a very talented woman I appreciate that I got the love of crafting from her!
Although this post may seem a little sad and not quite as upbeat as most of my posts, I have really felt like this post has been on my mind for a while. I recently saw a buzzfeed article someone posted on facebook about why Christmas birthdays are the worst. I read through them and completely sympathized with those people who have to share their birthday with the greatest man that will ever walk the planet. But it also made me appreciate my Granny even more. Granny was a Christmas baby, born on December 25th. She had every reason to complain about how she got slighted on her birthday but I NEVER ONCE heard her complain about it. Granny was just happy to have a birthday and to spend time with family. She didn’t care if she got a birthday/christmas gift all in one, she didn’t care we had to split our time with different families, she didn’t care if you wrapped her birthday gift in christmas paper. I choose to believe only special people are chosen to share the day we celebrate as Jesus’ birth and I know my Granny was definitely special to us.
Although I wasn’t ready to let her go, I feel comfort in knowing she is celebrating with Jesus during this holiday season. I’m sure she is dancing and singing and laughing in heaven as we all celebrate this Christmas season. We love and miss you Granny.
