Things I Love Thursday – Wooden Spools

Sticking with my scavenger theme lately, I am so excited to share with you my EXCITING ROADSIDE FIND for the week!!!

There is a business down the road that always has tons of pallets stacked up behind their dumpster which always catches my eye but this time I drove by I noticed something else hidden behind them. I slowed down to get a better look and there they were hidden away and waiting to be brought home with me.

This business had several wooden spools (used to for large cables) sitting out behind the dumpster and pallets and I knew immediately I had to have them. I have seen them used on pinterest but never seen any in person.  I contacted the company to make sure they were trash and free to take home and got my dad bring his truck to help me haul as many as I could! I grabbed 3 small spools (they’re pictured stacked on top of each other), 1 medium spool and 1 larger spool. They had some others that were even larger but unfortunately we’d have to have a trailer and more people to get those home. Maybe another day 😉

I’m super excited about this find and already have some ideas of how to use them including using them for some table tops, maybe a wall clock, or maybe a little decorative table of some sort. Look for some DIY post with wooden spools coming in the future!
