DIY Bun Feet Pumpkins
About four years ago I stumbled upon some bun feet (the kind that screw in the bottom of a couch) in a store and thought “well hello little pumpkin” and that’s when I got the idea and made my original DIY Bun Feet Pumpkin I shared HERE.
Well two couple years ago I was at the Nashville Flea Market and found a box of 9 of these wooden bun feet and bought them all because you can never have too many pumpkins 😉 I didn’t get a chance to make them into pumpkins last year since I was too busy trying to get the nursery ready for Cole so this year I decided to start a little early to have these ready for fall in plenty of time!
This has to be the easiest DIY ever. I just got pliers and removed the screw and then used a paint scraper to remove the little plastic piece on the bottom.
I sanded them and stained them with a variety of stains I had in my stash and then waxed them to give them a less rough looking finish.
You can leave them the color they come, sand them raw, stain them, paint them, whatever suits your style!
I left one totally raw and found a scrap wood knob in my stash that I spray painted black. It has a more modern feel to it but was perfect to add to Cole’s little shelf in his room!
But for the rest my vintage and traditional loving self wanted brass so I got a variety of backplates and knobs and mixed and matched and love how they look together!!
I don’t know if this is where they’ll stay but I just piled them together and threw some dried hydrangeas between the cracks and love how they look! It’s the perfect first touch of fall…not overpowering with orange and all the fall things but just subtle enough as we transition out of summer!
So if you ever pass a couch with these on the side of the road or see any of these bun feet, snatch them up and make some pumpkins!!
