Vintage Football Nursery

Well, this room is only about 90% complete but I have been holding out sharing for long enough and I’m finally close enough to share our little guys nursery! For the most part it’s finished, I’m just shopping around for a few decor pieces and just waiting on it’s new tenant 🙂

I honestly wasn’t planning on doing a theme in the nursery but my husband was pretty adament that he wanted a “theme” so after months of brainstorming we settled on vintage football. We are huge football lovers and since little guy will be joining our family during football season, it just seemed to be the most appropriate for our little guy.

We were fortunate enough to already have all the furniture. The crib, rocker, ottoman and side tables were all from Ellie’s nursery! The dresser was mine from college that I have a few small tweaks I’d like to make to eventually. The little “locker bench” was something I found thrifting for $10 3-4 years ago and it’s been in the movie room as dog toy storage ever since. We even had the floor lamp that has been in the living room and our bedroom over the last couple years. This meant I could put all my energy and budget into the details!

I purchased these football patent prints off Etsy and had them printed locally. I found these frames at Target but apparently they’re no longer available in this color because I was desparately searching for the second one and luckily found one a couple hours away and a friend was sweet enough to swing by and pick it up for me as she was passing through!

I felt like the frames alone were missing something. So I added chains and ordered some wooden furniture knobs to use as hangers and it was the perfect little detail to make this wall art work!

I had picked up several yards of leather a few years ago at the Nashville Flea Market to make a bracelet so I had lots left over. I decided leather was the perfect accent since footballs are leather. I used the leather to make these simple wooden shelves and just styled them with old treastures I picked up at a flea market and the thrift store.

I’m a huge Ryan and Rose lover and have been collecting their clips and CutiePats for Ellie since they launched the CutiePat in April 2018 so I’ve collected quite the stash. I knew I wanted a fun way to display them and also for quick and easy access so I ordered this vintage peg rack off Ebay and grabbed this little metal shelf from Hobby Lobby to hold all my RR treasures 🙂

I had this vintage sewing bucket that I was debating getting rid of but couldn’t bring myself to let it go just yet. I filled it with lots of swaddle blankets and a cute little elephant of Ellie’s for easy access!

Another thing I think of when it comes to vintage football is pennant banners. Several of these were from my husbands childhood which he loved we were able to pass down and use in his room. I found one at the flea market and picked up a few others to fill in that had significance to us… cough cough ROLL TIDE 😉  I used those same wooden drawer knobs and just clothes pinned them to some more leather ribbon that I had on hand already!

We added this $10 Sponge Accent Wall later on and it was exactly what this wall needed!
