Patriotic Patio with Fabric Strip Flag

We recently got this new sectional for our back patio and have been enjoying our patio SO MUCH MORE now that we have comfortable and casual seating. We both admit we wish we had bought patio furniture sooner. I’ve slowly been decorating and working on the outdoor space and it’s coming along slowly but surely.

My vision for the space is to add a large patio sign above the sectional on the brick…but that takes more time and effort than I have right now. I started to DIY this fabric strip flag using leftover fabrics I had in my crafting stash. I had made a smaller version a couple years ago and thought it’d be awesome to have a large one to use for Ellie’s birthday party. We’re throwing a small family party and doing a patriotic theme since the party will be July 6th.

I found a scrap piece of wood in the garage and just started cutting strips of red and white fabrics. I added some ribbon accents and just stapled them to the piece of wood. I had purchased these galvanized stars a couple years ago in the Target dollar spot and they ended up working perfectly to accent the flag. I just stitched them to the blue piece of fabric and voila! I wasn’t sure where I was going to use it but thought it’d be perfect on this large blank while until we can get a sign and it was! I added a couple red white and blue pillows I had in my stash and a striped vase I picked up at Target and now we’re all ready for the 4th of July and the birthday celebration!
