Floral Styled Tobacco Basket with Hobby Lobby

I have a large tobacco basket hanging on the wall of my living room and it is one of my favorite pieces to decorate with so when I saw tobacco baskets while walking through the spring section at Hobby Lobby, I had to grab one. Most of the time I see people using tobacco baskets hanging on the wall or sitting against the wall on a shelf but my mind started wandering and I had a different idea of how I wanted to use this tobacco basket.
I love using baskets and trays to style little vignettes and decided this would be the perfect size basket for that. It has the great texture and color that I love and is perfect for a fresh spring vignette. I’m going to walk you through my thought process around how I style trays and baskets and hopefully that will help you as you get ready to decorate for spring!
Here is my Hobby Lobby Haul! I was so excited to start shopping for spring and they had so many beautiful things to choose from this year!
Also, don’t forget your coupon! Everything except the garland was on sale when I went and it was my most expensive item so I was thankful for that 40% off!
First I started off with a linen napkin I found in the Spring section. By adding this underneath you not only are adding texture but you’re breaking up the wood tones of the furniture and basket that may or may not match (in my case they don’t). Then I placed the tobacco basket on top and it’s ready for the fun part.
You can fill your basket with as much or as little as you want but I chose to keep the items inside the basket minimal. I found this awesome ceramic vase/jug in the floral section that was the perfect height to use in the basket. I didn’t want anything too short where it couldn’t be seen, or too tall where the distance between the edge of the basket and top of the vase was too far.
I always love using lots of greenery and florals for springtime and the selection at Hobby Lobby didn’t disappoint. I picked up this awesome eucalyptus garland that I loved the color and texture of and I just weaved it in and around the vase and out of the basket. By using the garland this way it creates a path for your eye to follow.
I also found some awesome peachy pink florals to use with the greenery. You can get more for your money if you buy the bushes vs. individual stems and I found exactly what I wanted with the floral bushes and BONUS they were 50% off that week! I cut the stems off the bush and just started filling the hoes and areas around and in the basket. If you can see too much of the garland stem, that is where you want to fill in!
Then I just put some of the florals I had left into the vase, layered some artwork behind the basket and VOILA, we’re spring ready at The Hamby Home!
I love the rustic tobacco basket with the garland and florals…it is definitely “on trend” and exactly the look I’m going for this spring! I hope you all love it as much as I do!
