Blue and White Dining Room
I am excited to show you our newly styled dining room. I always like to try new things after all the Christmas decor has come down and I have a blank slate to work with. Honestly this is the first time I’ve used our hutch for only dishes. I know it’s not a new concept but I just always had mixed some dishes with other decor pieces since the hutch is so large which means it takes a lot to style.
It’s hard to say if this is my favorite styling so far because I really loved the yellow and green last Spring HERE but I am really loving all of my blue and white and I love the change. I started collecting blue and white ceramics a few years ago after I got a few pieces from my grandmother that were her mother’s dishes. I have slowly picked up pieces from thrift stores and estate sales mostly and have been given several as gifts. I’ve accumulated quite the collection. It was nice to get it all out and see how much I really do have and what I can probably get rid of!
This styling all started with my new Chicken Feeder Plate Rack that I got for Christmas from Decor Steals. I have been wanting one of these to display my dishes for a while and my husband got it for me for Christmas. I love mixing the rustic farmhouse look with my traditional decor pieces! These dishes are just too beautiful to sit in a cabinet and I don’t always want to leave place settings out on the table.
I slowly just started filling the other shelves with all the blue and white ceramics and white dishes that I own, trying to stagger them the best possible. I didn’t have enough of either color to do all one white or all blue and white but luckily they work great together! I am proud to say I shopped my house and didn’t buy a single new item!
I always see these gorgeous hutches filled with ironstone pitchers so I used one shelf for all of my thrifted pitchers. I didn’t have a ton so I just filled in the rest of the shelf with milk glass and other things I had that matched well enough. In a perfect world it would all match but I was trying to use only things I had already!
I have collected quite the collection of small bowls and plates over the years while thrifting so I decided to just stack them and put them into this rustic wire basket I had gotten at a flea market. I actually love how they look stacked! I filled the basket with my great grandmothers dishes and one her forks that has her initial engraved on it. By stacking and layering in the basket, it added some texture and a different element to the hutch.
So that’s my newly styled dining room following the Blue and White trend!
