DIY Yo Yo Tree Ornaments

I am excited to have my friend Vikki @uniqueantweaks over on my blog today to share these adorable DIY ornaments she made! I met Vikki on Instagram and I am so glad I did, she is fellow DIY and junk lover and is absolutely hilarious! So here is Vikki sharing these adorable YoYo tree ornaments and how she made them!

I make handmade ornaments every year for an annual ornament exchange I host with my best friend. This year I made yo-yo ornaments and they’re so me! You can switch this up to be more your style. I love neutrals so I went with white fabric and a green gingham bow with a rustic stump. The variation can be changed in so many ways from fabric choice to ribbon to the stump choice. You can use a bell, cinnamon sticks, a thimble or an old spool.  

The yo-yo makers can be found in the quilting section at Joanns craft store. I love making these for various things so I had these on hand. You’ll want to make two of each size.

Once you tie them off they’ll look like this.

During the assembly, I cut the ribbon at the top and set it aside. Then I secured the yo-yo’s by sewing right up the middle starting from the bottom. Once I made it through all six and the ribbon I went back down through the top securing the ribbon to all the yo-yo’s and tied a knot at the bottom.

I purchased this bag of wood slices from Joanns.

Simply hot glue your stump of choice to the bottom of the yo-yo’s and then glue the additional bow to the top.

I adore how they turned out. They’re exactly my style and I think everyone will know who made it when they pull it out next year to place it on their tree.
