DIY Home Pillow
I am my own worst critic and especially when it comes to DIY. I am never fully happy with any project but I just tolerate the imperfections. This project is no exception, as imperfect as it is in my eyes, many of you were so complimentary about it on Instagram that I figured I’d do a quick tutorial.
When I saw this “Home” Pillow at Pottery Barn, I knew I would love to have it in my house but I knew I would never pay $40 for just a pillow cover…I am cheap y’all!
So I started thinking about how I could make one for myself. I had originally bought a pillow insert and navy fabric to make a no sew cover similar to how I did for these and these. But when I found this navy pillow on clearance at Michaels, I decided it would work perfectly and save me some time and effort and still keep it budget friendly. You could use glue for this project but I decided to stitch mine just in case I wanted to remove it in the future.
Supplies Needed:
- Pillow
- Ribbon/Cord for Letters – I got this from Hobby Lobby in the jewelry section
- Needle and Thread – choose thread similar to the color of ribbon
- Scissors
Steps:
I didn’t take many photos of this pillow in progress because it’s kind of self explanatory. I just laid out the ribbon in the shape of the letter and stitched it onto the pillow. I had to do some folding of the ribbon to make the curves.
Here is a close up of the letters. They aren’t perfect but they were made with love! 🙂
