DIY No Sew Pillow Cover and Blanket
I knew I needed to swap out the outdoor pillows on my front porch for fall but wanted to keep it budget friendly. I found this fall plaid tablecloth at Walmart and thought it’d be perfect for some fall pillow covers. I do not have sewing skills so I elected to use the fabric tape.
I used the same technique I used for my No Sew Dropcloth and Lace pillows here.
I cut out squares that were two inches larger than the pillow. Using fabric tape, I taped 3 sides of the square together, leaving on side open.
Flip the pillowcase inside out and insert the outdoor pillow. Then I taped that end closed using a gift wrapping technique. I taped on side down, flipped the pillow over and then tucked in the sides and taped the free edge down.
The great thing about using fabric tape is not only is it simple to use but it can be removed easily as well. After fall, I will remove the pillows from that same end.
I had a lot of the tablecloth left with no plans for it so I decided it would make a cute “faux” blanket. It won’t be soft or warm but it looks like a blanket. I had some yarn around the house and used a tutorial I found on Pinterest to make tassels that I just attached to one end of the tablecloth, I actually did stitch those to attach…that’s the extent of my sewing skills 🙂
Then I just folded it up and hung on my rocking chair with the pillows. And that is how I took a Walmart tablecloth and made it into 2 pillow covers and a “blanket”!
