DIY Painted Glass Candlesticks

Painted_Candlesticks

I bought these glass candlesticks a couple years ago at the thrift store because they were very inexpensive and although I don’t use a lot of glass in my home, I knew they had a lot of potential. I kept pinning some teal glass candlesticks on Pinterest and finally decided that was the perfect DIY for these candlesticks. I did quite a bit of research for the best way to paint these and achieve the look I wanted. I ended up using the Americana Frost Gloss Enamels because I was afraid that opaque glass paint would inevitably show the brush strokes.

Supplies Needed:

Glass Candlesticks or other glass piece

Americana Frost Gloss Enamels – Color Turquoise

Makeup Sponge

How to do it yourself:
Step 1: Clean your glassware really good and dry it completely.

Step 2: Start blotting the paint all over the desired piece of glass. I tried to make sure the paint was evenly dispersed and no places were bare or “darker” because it had more paint.

Step 3: Once the first coat was completed, I went back and sponge painted all over the candlesticks a second coat. This helped richen the color and help make sure the coverage was even.

Step 4: Bake Glassware to Set the Paint. You will definitely want to do this if you will be washing your glass piece. I went ahead and baked mine to make sure the paint was permanent and wouldn’t come off when dusting.

That is all! This was such a quick and easy project and I love the frosted look! This is a great way to spruce up those thrifted glass finds! I’m thinking white frosted glass would be gorgeous to do as well!
