My Budget Friendly Easter Vignette
I have loved seeing all the many ways people are brightening up their homes with Spring and Easter decor. It’s fun to change things up in your home and make things festive for the upcoming season or holiday. I always do it big for Christmas and do some for Halloween and Fall but I struggle with some of the other smaller holidays. My main challenge with holiday décor is the expense of buying holiday decorative items. I am fairly frugal when it comes to my home décor, I try to thrift, DIY and utilize what I have the best I can and I definitely don’t like to spend a lot of money on items that aren’t going to be used for more than a month or so. Since we’re in our new house I really wanted to change things up and do some Easter/Spring décor this year and wanted to do it on a minimal budget!
Here is my Easter Display that I did for under $10 with items I already had around the house. I thought I would share all the details of the items with you in case you wanted to do your own frugal Easter décor!
Wreath – FREE
My original thought was to buy a new Spring floral wreath or one of those adorable wreaths that have the pastel Easter Eggs on them and one day, I may do that! But for now, I decided to make what I have work. I have this wooden rosette wreath from Home Goods that I’ve had for a couple years. I was trying to think of a way to spruce it up and give it more of a Springy look, maybe add a pink burlap bow or a flower. I finally decided that I could make a moss cross to hang in the middle of the wreath. I used all items that I already owned for this project. I used some scrap cardboard that I hoard from work (yes – I bring home scraps from work that I think I can use), cut out the cross, painted the edges green and then hot glued some moss sheets that I had from another project. Also used some thin cardboard scraps to paint and wrote “He is Risen” for the cross. It is written in pencil, no need to get fancy people, use what you have!!!
Easter Banner – FREE
I actually made this banner last year using hymnal pages, cardstock, paint, hot glue and twine – based off tutorial found here.
Burlap Nests – $1 for all
I have been looking for some inexpensive nests to use and haven’t found any cheap enough for my budget. My husband jokingly said “why don’t you make some out of burlap, you make everything out of burlap” and little did he know… he was right! He now thinks he’s a crafting genius and these actually turned out great! I always save my burlap scraps, because you just NEVER KNOW when you’re going to need them. I took the scrap burlap and modge podge and layered them inside a bowl and let them dry. Then I filled them with moss (from Dollar Tree) and voila! Almost free nests that I can make any size and however many I want! Thanks hubby! 🙂
Eggs – Target Dollar Spot – I bought 4 packs for $1 each
These eggs were 6 for $1 and they were just too cute to pass up. They are perfect to use in nests or glass vases, or wherever! Thanks Target Dollar Spot!
Framed Printable – FREE
