Simple DIY Wedding Date Burlap Ribbon
I bought a galvanized bucket from Home Goods a year or two ago and filled it with decorative balls. It looks great but I felt like it was missing something. Burlap Ribbon would have given it some new texture and would have looked great but I decided to paint our wedding date on it as well. This is a very simple project and easy way to add character to buckets or vases.
Supplies:
- Burlap Ribbon
- Tape
- Paint and Brush
- Print of Text
Here is how:
Step 1: Create the text you want to paint on the burlap on the computer. I use Adobe InDesign but Microsoft Word would work as well. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the size of the ribbon to make sure your text is the correct height. I used the font “La Portenia de la Recoleta” which is one of my favorites. Print it on computer paper to use as a template.
Step 2: Tape the burlap ribbon on top of the computer paper to secure the burlap ribbon and paper.
Step 3: You should be able to see through the ribbon to see the print. Paint over the letters, using it as a stencil. Paint a second coat if the paint coverage isn’t thick enough.
Step 4: Let dry and add it wherever you had in mind! I just taped mine since nobody can see the back of the bucket but you can use hot glue as well!
I keep burlap ribbon and paint around the house so this was a simply and free way to spruce up a simple galvanized bucket!
