Y’all, it is a miracle… I found a new bedspread for our master bedroom… Queue angels singing
But really…why is bedding so difficult to find? I have been looking for bedding since we registered for our wedding which has been about 3 years. I would look for a while and get frustrated and just give up in hopes that one might just catch my eye one day. Am I the only one with this struggle?
I love the white/cream colored bedding that you see all over Pinterest but that’s just not practical for us and two dogs. Yes, the dogs sleep with us, they have since I got them (prior to meeting my husband) and I wouldn’t have it any other way!! However, as much as I love snuggling with them, It does make choosing bedding a little more challenging.
When we decided to build a house we were told that we had to choose our wall colors when we chose the rest of the house. You can check out some tips that helped me here. I knew then that I had to find our new bedding before I could choose the paint colors.
Here were the Bedding Requirements:
- Dark or Medium to Dark colors – so I’m not always worried about the dogs feet being dirty
- Preferably similar color scheme to the colors we’ve used in the past
- Thick Comforter – Not Quilt – per the Husbands request
- No polyester or slick fabric – not sure who thinks that is comfortable
- No fabric that the dogs would want to dig (those cute anthro sets with fabric knots – not happening) or any fabric that the dogs could easily pick with their nails
- Nothing too too expensive – like I said, we have dogs in the bed so I really don’t want to spend more than $300 on bedding
Ok so that sounds like a lot but I didn’t think it was too much to ask for!!
I went back through my Pinterest board (seriously, Thank God for Pinterest) and found one of the ones I had pinned a while back was now marked down to be right at the top of my price range. I read the reviews and knew it was the one, it fit all of the requirements above. It was the colors we’ve used previously meaning I can use a lot of my old décor, it was a good thick comforter and there were reviews specifically about how it’s great because it doesn’t pick on dog nails, etc. It’s the Rose Tree Audubon Bedding and I ordered it from Dillards. It’s no longer available but after looking around I found it on Amazon and some other websites as well.
I have it stored away for the new house but I can’t wait to see it all put together in the new house!
The dogs seemed to like when we briefly pulled it out of the bag to make sure we liked it! And they look adorable on it, as always! 😉
Now we will just wait another couple months until we’re in the new house and can put our new master bedroom together! 🙂
