DIY Spring Burlap Banner with Free Banner Template
I love all the burlap banners being used for all the seasons and holidays. I thought I might do a spring banner to list on Hamby Home Decor so this one is actually for sale but here is how I made it in case you want to make one yourself!
Each piece of this banner is about 7.5″ x 9.25″ so it’s a little larger.
Since I’m a graphic designer, I find doing as much as possible on the computer makes any project easier for me. In this case I designed each pennant and added the letter to use as a guide. You can download my free spring banner template here.
I still had some 12 inch wide burlap leftover from the burlap table runner I made so I decided to use it for this banner. I printed out the letters from my template and laid them underneath my burlap and could see the template perfectly.
I started by painting the edges of the pennant shape. Burlap is great for painting lines because of it’s grid-like pattern and I was able to paint the line to be the size of three strands wide. I chose a different spring color for each letter. The great thing about painting the edges is it bonds your burlap where you don’t experience fraying after you cut the shape.
Next I painted the letter on the inside white. I just painted over the black letter underneath as thick as possible.
Once the burlap pennants were dry, I cut out the pennant shape and hot glued them on a piece of twine!
That’s all the steps! It’s pretty quick and simple and can be done with any pennant shape or word!
