DIY Cork Monogram
I don’t know about you but I often see wine cork crafts on pinterest and think how cute and resourceful! I have a bag of corks that I got from The Melting Pot when I asked for their corks and I’ve been saving our wine corks as they come available. We enjoy wine every once in a while but it would would take a couple years for us to collect enough to do this project. I’ve made a cork monogram for a friend/wine lover for a house warming gift before but it was more of a serif font. I liked the curly initials like the one I found on pinterest below and decided to make one for us to go above our kitchen cabinets.
I had a hard time finding a curly wooden initial that would sit flush on the bottom so it will stand up until I found this one at Michaels.
All you need for this project is a wooden initial, wine corks and hot glue and it should be done while enjoying a good glass of wine 🙂
Just start gluing away. I tried to mix up the looks and colors of the corks to keep it random.
This wooden letter (unlike the inspiration picture) varies in width which created a little problem. I had to stagger corks and cut some corks in half using an exacto knife to cover the wider areas.
I still prefer the initials that are just one cork thick but this one will do for now. It’s a pretty cheap project so I can always try to make another one later. It’s also a little too tall to fit above our kitchen cabinets so it’s currently sitting on top of our refrigerator until I find a better place to use it. I don’t love it by itself but I bet it’d be cute with other decorations around it.
