Curbside Trunk Makeover

I love finding good junk to repurpose but honestly we have been in more a purge mode lately bringing in less things. Our house is full and I need to be more intentional with what I bring in. So if I don’t have a place or purpose for it, I don’t bring it home (from the store, thrift store, curb etc.). Well when I was leaving my neighborhood the other day I noticed these trunks sitting on the curb with a bunch of other junk which of course caught my attention. I went ahead and took the kids to school but came back to grab them because I knew they had so much potential. I’m always on the hunt for cute storage and loved the look of these! It had just started to rain which is why they’re all wet! If they had been rained on too hard it probably would have ruined the inside.

This one was an awful green color so i knew I would be painting it and wanted to use it in Ellie’s room for either toys or some sort of closet storage. If I had more time I would have hand painted and left the brass areas as is because I loved the tone but I don’t have time for hand painting several coats these days so spray paint to the rescue!

I ordered this blush pink chalk spray paint from Amazon here because once again, as a busy working mom of two, I don’t have time to run all over town for supplies.

Once I had it all painted I went back over the metal pieces with Gold Leaf Rub and Buff, I have found this color is the closest one to Brass.

I put it at the foot of her bed just to see how it looked and it was so cute!

I was actually planning to use it in her closet because I worry it will close on her fingers too hard but I asked her what she wanted to put in it and she said her doll stuff…which honestly was the last thing on my mind but was PERFECT!! It fits her dolls, bath tub, carrier, pack and play and all the accessories perfectly and I love having it all contained to one place so this was a major WIN!

I’ve told her 100 times to be careful so she’s very aware to watch her fingers but hopefully I can eventually add some hinges or something to help make it a little safer for little hands!
