DIY Kids Book Wreath

Yesterday I helped throw a book themed baby shower for a sweet friend and her sweet baby boy on the way. I’ve made a couple book wreaths before that you can find the tutorials here and here but I have wanted to make a childrens version for a while and this shower gave me the perfect opportunity to see how it would look! .

I  found several classic golden books that I had growing up for $.50 each at the thrift store. I tried to to only choose classics like Pokey Little Puppy, The Princess and the Pea, Scuffy the Tugboat, etc. I purchased 9 books because I wasn’t sure how many I needed but I think 5 would be fine!

You can find a more detailed tutorial here but I wanted to show you a quick tutorial of how I made  this one!

I started out by taking my exacto knife and slicing all the pages right at the spine of the book.

Then I made a large stack of book page cones. These wreaths take a lot cones, approximately 45 cones. Start on the outside circle and glue cones around the cardboard base circle.

Repeat and glue top layer of cones on the inside. I then just cut out a circle of one of the book covers and glued it in the center of the wreath.

As I mentioned I didn’t do a full tutorial this time but you can find more details of how to make one here.

I love how it turned out! It worked perfect for the shower and the mommy to be was thrilled to get to take it home. It was simple and inexpensive and worked great for the shower and would be super cute for a nursery or kids room.
